Speaker/deck installation.
My birthday is coming up and in light of that, I'm buying myself/asking for money towards a deck and probably speaker replacements for the front.
Are these hard to install for a guy that isn't all that handy? I could spend the money to get it installed, but I wouldn't want somebody scratching/messing up the interior in any way. I could do it myself potentially, but likewise I don't want to mess anything up, either the install or my car itself. Also, only the left front is blown and the other three are fine. If I do replace the fronts, it wouldn't necessarily matter that the back ones aren't as good right? So what's the best route to go? Thanks for the input guys.

Those links are broken. Get ready for the Spanish inquisition.
You have a Celica right? Do you have an iPod? If yes, is controlling it with your deck important? If no, do you have another type of MP3 player you want to be able to hook up to it? Do you prefer any specific brand? Do you mind getting your stuff form the web? Do you want component speakers for the front (separate tweeter and woofer)? Lemme know that, and I'll be able to help more.

Component speakers aren't necessary seeing as there's only 4 in the car. ![]()

Cool beans I'll make up a list real quick. I do however recommend you find some write ups or some shit like taht for help installing the deck yourself. I don't know te particulars of your car, but it's not too terribly complicated when you're not amping your speakers. I will say however, Crutchfield.com is similarly priced to big box retailers, but when you order from them, you get fully printed detailed instructions on installing everything, and any adapters you'd need for installing the parts you order like speaker adapters to fit your factory plug.

Thanks bro.
I have found some writeups on 6gc.net, only problem is that I want it to sound as good as possible so I'd rather have somebody that knows what they're doing install, yet I wouldn't want some asshole to fuck my car up either...

Decks:
Alpine 9874 Pioneer 2000mp Speakers: Alpine Type S 6 1/2 Polk Audio DB Series 6 1/2 Obviously, you don't need to order from them, and but that site is amazing to at least do your research on, then go out and find the stuff at a store. My friend has that Pioneer deck and it's pretty awesome for how cheap it is. I myself like Alpine stuff. Those polk speakers put out quite a bit of bass for what they are, a buddy of mine has them. The Alpine ones are great for running off of a deck.

I just went on their site, and you're right, they're waaay more helpful. That Pioneer deck is the one I liked too, so I'll probably get that one. $100 is a pretty reasonable price.
So which one do you prefer as far as the speakers go? Those Alpine's looked good, and they're 50% off. |

Ok, and just saw the links you posted. I've never personally had any experience with the JVC decks. They could be good, they could be bad. That Pioneer one is the same one I picked, like I said a friend has it, and it's pretty tits for only being 100 bucks.
I had a set of Kenwood speakers in my last car run off the deck, they had great highs, but absolutely ZERO low end. Plus 3-ways are overrated. As far as install goes, my best friend used to be an installer for BB, and in the year and a half they did it, no-one ever fucked up a car. Ask around if you can and see if you can get info on a particular store. Word of warning though, they may make you buy the installation parts from them, so ask first. Also stay the FUCK away from Audio Express if you have them in your state. I know 2 people who have had their cars light on fire because of bad installs from that place. Small fires, but still bad lol.
