The most amazing speakers I've ever heard

http://cgi.ebay.com/carver-amazing-s...QQcmdZViewItem

with my own ears. About 12 years ago, before I joined the navyone of my best friends was ridiculously rich and had all the expensive toys. He had these speakers in his living room. At the time they were about $7000 each and from the way they sounded I believed the price.

The sound reproduction was superb while at the same time shaking the house all the way to its foundation. When you hear or see something that blows your mind in such a way, you never forget the impression it leaves...yeah these are it. When my theatre gets build I'm fitting these into the walls fo sho.

each speaker has 4 12" subs and each 12" sub is tuned for a different purpose and the tweeters are unbelievable. Ever hear of them or something similar that have blown your mind?

mo info and yes the model name is fittingly "Amazing"

i've heard great things about carver speakers. haven't heard of these particular models but they do look incredible. i don't know about that whole shaking the foundation of the house thing-that's not exactly a desirable effect of speakers, you want to hear the speakers, not rattles. but other than that, sounds very interesting and i'd love to hear them.

Well they are surely capable of it. The ones I saw were coupled to a Carver amp, like 380 per channel @ 8ohms. At regular and louder volumes they were clean, cris, and had the right amount of thump and werent too boomy, but just to show off I heard them at pretty much full volume, and it didnt seem like the house appreciated that.

Upon further research, this discontinued line of speakers are still around, but the tweeter ribbons rip and are hard/expensive to replace...

WhiteStripes will become famous soon enough
Haha, funny you should mention these. There were some on c-list in Phx a few weeks ago for hella cheap because the ribbon tweeter in one had been damaged by the movers. And yeah, I've heard that style tweeter before, I work corporate audio visual, and have flown a few line arrays with ribbon tweeters. The highs they produce are amazing. Lol anyone ever heard of a plasma tweeter???
