Money...

How do you guys view money?

Personally, I just finished saving a 1k in cash and even though I've got a decent amount of money stashed away in the bank I still felt like that was a nice accomplishment.

How much do you have to save, or have to really feel like you've accomplished something by saving that much? And does it make more of a difference to you if you have a stash in cash or in the bank? I.e. if I'm saving up through something like direct deposit it doesn't really matter to me, but when I stash away tip money until I've got 1k in 20's I feel like I've done well....

I'd love to hear what you all think about the subject.

saved up about a 100$ in change I think thats pretty good for an unemployed 15 year old

I really could have had atleast 600$ if I saved by anything under 5 dollar bills

saving money is awesome.

I have 3 accounts that hold my savings.

1 for the future (house,car,emergency)

1 for school (ill be registered here shortly)

1 for present day stuff (car, christmas, fun)

I love checking the account and seeing it grow, especially when the interest is so high

Yeah, I just love watching the total amount grow haha.

How do you decide how much to put in each account? Is it a ratio or spur the moment stuff?

I guess I'll share my setup now that I just got done looking at it.

I've got 6 accounts...
1 is my savings which usually has around 1k for emergency type stuff, or to pay a deductible if need be.

Next is my money market savings which is a savings account with a higher interest rate, so thats where most of my money is if I think I'll need it within a year, otherwise it goes in a CD.

I've got a College Savings fund that is a joint account between myself and my mom, so if need be she can slide me some $$ through that.

I've got a 14month savings certificate which I got after I sold my car so the money I made off of that can make me some money before I need to use it.

I've got some shares of a mutual fund which is actually making me some good returns, but for the most part I just leave it in there and let it do it's own thing until I need the $$. I would cash it out and put it in my money market... but it's making good returns so...

And finally I've got my good old checking account with a $500 buffer so I know I've got funds if I need them.

So, my money's all spread out but all of it except my mutual funds are through one main account so I get to watch the overall total build up =)
