I need tips on getting cut, and not the emo cutting

Alright so although I"m "TheStoner" and I do enjoy smoking weed on a regular basis I'm not the munchies type of stoner anymore. I watch what I eat 90% of the time. Jack in the Box is my weakness but I try to limit to fast food meals to 1-2 meals a week even then I get "chicken sandwiches". I eat breakfast every morning and continue to eat every 3 hours throughout the day with a protein only shake at bedtime (whey and casein mix) I don't do much cardio although I've started doing more lately. I've even started to incorporate vegetables into my diet! big leap for me. I do the whole grilled chicken and vegetables meal now here and there. I've been working out and making a conscience effort to watch what I eat for about 2 years now and I no longer crave all the shit as junk i use to eat (oreo's, chewy chips ahoy...mmmm...chewy chips ahoy, etc.) I've never been heavy. Just the opposite i use to weight 140lbs when i started, maxed out at 172 and I'm now between 166-169 throughout the day. Here's a typical eating schedule throughout my day. I tend to eat the same food over and over

Breakfast (10 am ): 4 egg whites, 1 whole egg, 2 slices of wheat bread, 1 cup apple juice

3 hours later (1pm): 3/4 cup of oatmeal blended with a scoop of a whey/casein mix. I just add about 1 1/2 cups of room temp water, stir for a few min and slowly drink like a protein shake

3 hours later (4pm): Usually a homemade chicken sandwich or turkey sandwich

(if I workout usually around 5:30) I've been out of the gym for a couple months now just doing push ups, pull ups and varies other exercises I can do at home. I'm not really going for size at this point so I don't see it too necessary to be in the gym lifting heavier weights. Done around 6:30-6:45 and I take a Cell-Tech hardcore half a serving to get about 40g of glucose with 5g creatine and all the other crap in there but mainly for that along with about 15-20g protein

45min-1hr after post workout drink (8pm): chicken and vegetables

3 hours later (11pm): Here I get hung up on what to eat. I will either make myself a peanut butter sandwich with a glass of milk, or I will toast two wheat bread slices and just put strawberry jam with a glass of milk

Bedtime (1am): protein only shake (whey/casein mix)

My diet doesn't vary much from that routine other than the occasional late night jack meal after a night of heavy drinking, which maybe only happen once every 3 or so weeks. That obviously replaces my protein shake. The times might change or my workout time might change but not by much.

So after all that background my question to anyone out there that is already pretty lean, cut, showing a six pack (if any of you out there) WTF can I do to speed this shit up? Would you guys recommend a fat burner? step up the cardio? change my diet a bit? include certain foods? Stop waking up at noon and going to bed at 2-3am? Any info would help.

I do take glutamine, have a multi-vitamin I take regularly. I've been trying really hard to leave supplements behind as much as possible and attempt to get as much as my nutrition and energy from whole foods.

you have a good start on it. the best way to get cut fast is high reps with low weight and TONS of cardio. do NOT powerlift ie: low reps but high weight as this will increase your muscle mass in a dirrefernt way that cutting up. for cardio you can do basically anything you feel comfortable with as long as you do it ALOT and do it regularly.

what i did last year to get cut up was like i said the high reps low weight and i went from station to station with extremely short breaks to keep my breathing and heart rate high. on the last set of each excercise i would do burnouts, you just pump it until you die, basically. for example, doing bicep curls 30 pounds, 12 reps per set, 5 sets, on the last set doing like 20 if you can, or however many you can until you can no longer do any more.

diet is important as with ay excercise routine, but seriously, speed and intensity are the main ingredients to getting cut. even when i was on that workout routine i still ate carls jr and mcdonalds and taco bell all the time and it didnt really matter cus i was burning so many calories during the workout. i think you will find the same results.

also make sure you drink TONS of water. it will keep your body hydrated but mainly it will keep your body pure. flushing all the bady crap out. sweating alot and taking fat with it.

interesting on the fast food note. I guess it is just my cardio that is lacking and the need to switch up my workout routine a bit. I was hoping it was more diet since I tend to be a little on the lazy side when it comes to cardio but lately i've been running more getting my heart in shape. I also like the quick moving from station to station and shorter breaks to keep the breathing and heartrate up.

completely incorrect.
maybe if i feel like it after i get out of the shower, i will explain why.

the doing "TONS of cardio" is exactly right though.

get plenty of protein, keep the calories down, and do tons of cardio.

protein is not a problem as TunnelRush gladly points out all the time. Cardio huh...fuck. I was hoping there was another way around it. Any particular cardio exercise work more effectively, such as running outside vs. treadmill or the step climber or elliptical.

Have you heard of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). I read an article in a M&F saying how doing HIIT vs traditional cardio will burn more calories over a 24 hour period. You burn more calories while actually working out doing traditional but doing HIIT will continue to burn calories after your workout for a longer period of time and in a 24 hour period you will have burned more doing HIIT.

HIIT for example would be like going on a track and sprinting on the straight part and walking on the curves.

Any thoughts?

HIIT is great training....
i always reccomend boxing training (heavy bag/speed bag).
best cardio workout you will ever get, and at the same time you learn to punch correctly/faster/harder and learn to fight.

Word on the street is HIIT boosts your metabolism more than normal cardio and keeps it jacked up higher for longer, therefore burning more calories over say a 24hr period.

... thats just what I hear

Seems like you are doing everything you are supposed to do already. I would cut out the Creatine. If you are not taking it for any sort of muscle building then you are just going to put on water weight. Seems like you are pretty lean. Cut out all the fast food. If you really want to get cut you need to start being more strict with your diet. You seem disciplined already but you need to take it to the crazy zone....

Watch all carbs. Up your fiber. I would go light weight and high reps. And once a month hit the heavy weights low reps. I would focus on doing alot of resistance type of movements lots of cable work and negatives and such.

Just my thoughts. Oh yah and run like you stole something.

Yea i've been trying to mentally prepare for the "crazy zone" of dieting. It's taken me 2 years to get this disciplined and I'm just about ready to take it up a notch.

fiber intake has gone up, from the wheat bread i eat, to the oatmeal, vegetables etc. I should be including fiber with every meal.

the one thing that gets me right around my 5th meal of the day is a sick ass sugar craving! Figure it's a low sugar level in my blood which is good to keep fat burning optimal (I've done plenty of reading on blood sugar levels, cortisol, insulin etc.) Not everyday but some days I just feel like pigging out on sweets. I try to calm my craving with a little chocolate but i've over indulged in ice cream, cookies etc. Which pisses me off after because of my goals but it's not everyday I'm doing that. I jsut feel like it's a set back.
