help/advice

i'm tyring to lose a little weight before the summer hits and i know that you guys here are big into your fitness/nutrition so i thought i might ask you guys for some help with this.

i've been hitting the gym a lot lately, 4-5 days a week. usually i go monday, tuesday, thursday, friday. sometimes i'll go sunday too. i do 30-45 minutes of cardio (eliptical generally, i have really bad ankles so the treadmill hurts after a while). after that i usually do another 30-45 minutes of weights. i do a lot of arms/shoulder and ab stuff primarily, and do some legs maybe 2x a week. i go with friends as we have more motivation to go and do things if we're not alone. it seems to be working, at least for me as i'm still going. i change who i go with though so it doesn't get old lol.

i know that my eating habits aren't the best, but i've been trying to change them. i don't eat bad (as in what i eat), it's not the best but i've seen a hell of a lot worse. my problem more is how i eat, and that's what i've been working on.

i don't eat breakfast usually, and i'm trying to get better about that. i now remember (yes i truly forget) to eat breakfast probably 3 of 5 days a week. on the weekend i always eat breakfast, i usually make us a good meal in the mornings. the one breakfast item i know i shouldn't really eat that i love though are bagels

lunch for me usually consists of a sandwich, as i eat on the go. i know, not the best but trying to cram something down my throat between classes and still make it on time to get notes on the board before class starts kinda sucks. so it is what it is.

dinner varies. i eat a lot of salad with veggies and chicken. i've been trying to increase fish in my diet as well (salmon, tuna, etc.). lately i've been doing a lot of pasta just because it's easy. when we come home from the gym at night and chris is starving i'll just throw on some spaghetti for him or something, i usually don't eat much as i tend to not be hungry after the gym though. i know i should eat, but i dunno i just don't feel like it.

i drink water mostly or iced tea (unsweetened). sometimes if i'm having a non-energetic day i'll have a gatorade or similar drink at the gym. i'm also a sucker for cranberry/apple juice and black teas. i know there's a lot of sugar in the apple juice so i try not to have too much.

basically i've been doing this for about a month now and i haven't seen any change at all. is it my diet that's killing me? i'm kinda at a loss. it pisses me off too as i'm busting my ass trying to get in shape and lose weight, watching what i eat and all and i get nothing. yet chris half asses the gym and has lost weight (he comes with me 2-3 times a week), ashley has gone to the gym maybe four times in a month and claims to have lost 10lbs (which i think is bs, but then again she has a lot more to lose than i do), and joe has lost like 5 lbs and he's gone maybe twice. wtf. i'm the only one actually going to the gym on a regular basis and trying to have a good diet and i'm the only one not getting any results. maybe i should try eating mcdonald's and subway and being a lazy ass like everyone else and i'll lose weight then.

basically any help or suggestions that you guys could offer would be great. and if you're going to be an asshole go fuck yourself and get out of this thread.

diet is key, get that right and the rest should fall into place... keep up the good work in the gym and you should start seeing results.

i dont eat breakfast either and im trying to loose weight as well, but they said you should to kick start your metabo so i started eating oatmeal in the morning

i didnt read it all, but my room mate put it best. "you can eat what ever the fuck you want, as long as u workout enough" idk if its the same for older ppl or for women, but its true really. back when i worked out 5 days a week i ate what ever i wanted and weighed like 195. now i dont work out nearly as often and eat the same way and weigh around 260.

eating a bit of protein in the morning usually helps me not feel nearly as hungry at lunch, and makes it easier to eat several small snacks instead of a few big meals

ocho cinco starts every day off with Mcdonalds. diet helps alot though.

so is breakfast the key to kick starting metabolism? i know that i have a slow metabolism. it sucks. when i was younger i could eat like 6 meals a day and still lose weight. now i look at food and i put on 5lbs lol.

im gonna go ahead and disagree here... some people can do that... with success but you have to also look at overall health... some people that eat whatever they want and stay thin also have high cholestoral etc etc.
