BTR's most recent electronic gadget purchase (Archos Internet Tablet)

More pics here...

PHOTOS: Archos 5 internet tablet - Pocket-lint

My GPS shit the bed and I was looking for something to replace it. I went into a local radio shack to look for a few and I saw this slick looking GPS and I was like oh shit, that looks pretty badass.

I looked it up online and its called the Archos 5 internet tablet. It runs android and I knew I had to give it a shot.

Well I took it home with me yesterday and needless to say I'm VERY impressed with this little piece of shit. It is thinner than my 2G Iphone and video playback is 10x better. It plays literally ALL of my downloaded video files (including mkv and even audo OGG vorbis flac etc.) all in 720P!

I bought the 8GB and took the 8GB mini SD card out of my blackberry storm (b/c its a piece of shit) so I have a total of 16GB. After the recent android firmware update the GPS finds a signal sooner and is actually useable. It also has wireless N which is really fucking win, not to mention the web browser runs very smoothly and is actually USEABLE, the screen hands down is what makes this device pretty fucking cool.

I was watching Black hawk down in 720P on the train and there were 2 iphone users at each side of me looking at my screen and complimenting the unit. Its probably the best sized screen i've seen on any portable device, I had to squint half the time when I was watching a movie on my iphone

Here are some neat things I was able to do with it.

Tether to my cellphone and use the 3G internet.
Listen to FM radio on the train with RDS (pretty neat)
Sync my Gmail, Yahoo, and Exchange email.
Stream HD TV from the internet.
Download a few E-books
Make calls from the device (tethered to my cellphone) it has a built in mic

At first I was thinking to return the device after the 30 trail period, but I'm very impressed and just may keep the damn thing.

7.5/10 stars.

I thought the same thing, but you have to try it, it actually works VERY well.

give it time...it will get worse and worse. IMO no manufacture should use resistive screens, especially when its the primary input interface.
