Comcast box pissing you off? Try this.

I just helped chairforce do this and figured i'd share it with you guys. for reference, a "hit" is a signal that gets sent to all boxes for any activity concerning the billing system, which is basically everything.

Line of troubleshooting:
- first, youll want to call comcast and have them send a refresh hit. alot of times that will fix whatever glitch/issue is happening.
- if that doesnt work, have them send a maintenance hit and a refresh hit. these could take some time depending on box driver backlogs and such.

- your last line of attack before calling a technician is to do whats called a "cold boot". but first youll need to figure out what kind of box you have. if you have an older black box, or a silver hd or hd/dvr box, this next step will apply. if you have the small plastic box, there is another technique that i will post when i remember it lol.

ok so to cold boot your box, hold the power and select button and remove the power cord from the back... while holding those, plug it back in and hold the buttons until you see "8888" flash on the screen. you will then see a scrolling ring and dl on the screen. its downloading some info to reset. this could take approx. 30 minutes. After this, you will need to call comcast and have them send a maintenance and refresh hit again. this will clear up alot of BS that happens with this POS boxes.

if these steps dont work, youre fucked, have them send a tech out or go get yourself a new box to try.
