What are my options if I jump ship from Comcast
Ok, so let's say I've had it with Comcast.
Comcast situation: Internet: No apparent throttling of torrents, however when playing my PS3 through a router I get kicked off every now and then. This might be my problem but I'm starting to blame them for everything. When connected speeds seem fine. TV: This is what really pisses me off. No SPEED channel going on 5 days now. Breakup on 1/3 of HD channels. ![]() So I'm thinking of going DirecTV or something, but I'd like to know exactly what I'd be getting into in terms of internet connection. Assume it's DSL but I don't know if I'll get the speeds I want or if my online gaming will stop kicking me or kick me more often. I know for damn sure that the dish will put an end to the retarded TV signal Comcast gives me.

Yeah, I saw that bundle. I don't get fios either, but my dsl has never had any problems. Its not the fastest, but I can get on xboxlive with no problems. I have never gotten kicked out of the blue.

First, the PS3 kick problem might have been my SSID broadcast, which I just turned off. But more importantly, I'm not really in the sticks, I'm in a cluster of 3 towns just east of Leesburg, VA, and most people out here are I'd guess 60% comcast 40% satellite. The thing about the missing channel #271 (SPEED), the first night it was out we called Comcast and got a rep. who knew right away we were calling about SPEED b/c she had handled several calls about it (presumably from ticked-off Grand-Am fans missing their Watkins Glen race). I called back on sunday and got someone else who said something standard-sounding about upgrades to the service, to which I responded that missing ALMS@Road America was NOT an upgrade in my book. Signal breakup on the digital/HD channels has always been an issue, and not specific to any particular channel.
