Anyone ever brew their own beer?

I was thinking about trying it. Its hard for me to find a lot of different beers in liquor stores. Most of them are just the same thing. Someone suggested to me that I try to brew it myself. Never thought of it, but it sounds interesting. I have no idea what I'd need though, or how hard it would be.

my dad did it once when i was younger, he seemed to enjoy it.

we've got a family friend that brews his own cherry wheat beer and makes his own wine...

yeah I know people who make their own wine and beer. I'm not sure how much goes into it though. I'm guessing your trying to find IPA's etc type of beers, which are difficult to find in the store

i did it for my micro biology class it was awesome, time consuming but a lot of fun. Our professor has like a microbrewery in his basement.
I have also brewed my own root beer, that was very good.

my neighbor here did it once and it tasted horrific, a little like coffee though. my sister's b/f also made it before with a buncha raspberries to flavor it.. i dunno how that turned out though

There are a few IPA's in the stores I go to. But I'm more interested in just different kinds of beer. Something I haven't had before or something.

There are several good websites to go to that can explain everything.

I've always had the intention of trying it, but when it comes around to my b-day, I forget to ask for a kit.....

would it even save you money in the long run??? i mean a six pack of cans is about 7 bucks.... sometimes 5...... its not that expensive.... i figure you wouldnt be making top notch beer anyway
