wireless issue pissing me off halp plz!

Vista, gateway amd dual core, internal wireless.

ok, so after i boot it up it connects to my wireless router flawlessly, then after what seems to be a random amount of time, i lose connection with the router (this is not a router issue, it does it on any wireless hotspot i use). when i attempt to reconnect, it shows my network and a great signal strength, but it instantly fails when i try to restore the connection. my only solution as of now is to restart the computer. also of note: when the connection fails, the error message says "this network is listed as a hidden network" or some bullshit. im researching right now but any help is appreciated

did you try reinstalling the driver for your wireless card?

Do you have anything around that could interrupt the signal? Cell phone, microwave etc? Have you tried playing around with the wireless frequency setting and change the channel to like 6, 9, 11, etc?

Is there a firmware upgrade available? Is this for DSL or Broadband? If this is for Broadband I would recommend going for Tomato or a different router OS.

i have tried changing channels on the router, doesnt help. theres no cordless phone in the room with the router and i don't notice any correlation between when the phones on or off it just seems random.

I will try reinstalling the driver for the card though, i hadn't thought of that. Its so simple it just might work...

so i updated the driver, and it stopped working altogether. then, i rolled back the update to the previous update and i think i pinpointed the problem. upon rolling back i restarted windows and Mcafee prompted me to classify my "new" network. i classified it as trusted and hopefully it will fix it. I'm wondering what the hell it was listed as before, and maybe thats why windows sometimes recognized it as "hidden"
