Purported Vodafone BlackBerry Storm screen shots emerge

Quote:
We've seen most everything about the BlackBerry Storm that Verizon wanted us to see, but this is the first real (clear) glimpse at what the UI is apt to look, taste and smell like whenever it decides to ship. Of course, we'd still caution you to take all of this with a grain of salt until Vodafone comes clean, but the screen shots captured in the read link do look fairly believable. Can you stand any more teasin'? If so, you know where to head.

BB's strike against the iPhone?

I know that my company REFUSES to use the iPhone for the lack of security features. My boss is really bummed about it too lol.

We have a lot of "sensitive information" since we are not only an ISP but also a software/data management company for pharmaceutical companies and many banks. I know on my WM6 phone if I enter my screen lock password wrong 10x it formats the phone.

uuuummmmm. my iphone has that feature, with exchange push i can set that policy up through exchange. Your IT people need to do better research.

So your iPhone locks automatically within a certain period of time and when someone tries to unlock it it requires a p/w? Not ONLY to connect to Exchange. Also, does the iPhone encrypt any of the data before it's sent from the phone to wherever?

no the iphone doesn't do any of that. which is why it still fails for business use. it's a consumer phone, no way around that.

Yes it can actually. It can be preset to lock automatically between 1 - 5 mins and/or never. Yes it can be password protected therefore the minute the phone locks whether it be manually or automatically it will require a password. With the latest 2.1 fw Apple released users now have the option to complete wipe the phone after 10 failed password attempts. The phone of course can be wiped manually as well via exchange which I did for a customer for the 1st time yesterday. I thought that was pretty awesome & worked beautifully.

I'll be honest and say I'm not sure about the iphone encrypting data but I can research that.
