My iPhone 3G experience/review
I'll try to be as un-biased as possible considering this is my personal device & not just me speaking for the device in sales pitch.
I picked mine up yesterday from the Apple store in my mall. For some d!ck reason my area manager isn't allowing reps to buy them in the store & wants us to purchase them in August. Yea, ok. I pay my bill deutche. I have good ties with the Apple store so I used it to my advantage. Walked past 200 people in line, store mgr sold me my new 16GB iPhone 3G in black (white looks awesome but I thought after a while I would get sick of it as I am of my red curve). He walks me out the back to avoid mass histeria & I go back to my store walking past my boss while smirking <~~ sorta like this. So far what I have noticed. The new one is considerably lighter. I kinda miss the solid feel of my prior iPhone. The new design however is much more comfortable in your hand. The shape makes you feel more confident holding it rather then worrying if it's gonna slip off your hand. Nice grip although the appearance would have you thinking otherwise. The screen is the exact same size but the shell itself is noticeably wider. If you've never owned an iphone before you would never notice. The screen is much more comfortable on the eyes. I had the anti-glare screen protector on my last model & even with that it doesn't compare to the newer one. The buttons are much more solid, they don't feel 'cheap' & the speakers are FAR improved. Not as loud as my blackberry but much more clear & audible. The black casing does pick up smudges but not as bad as I anticipated. I do however intend on picking up Invisible Shield so it stays cleaner. The App store so far is pretty cool. I expected more but I suspect they're going to bring out more once they get a feel from developers with the public release. So far I downloaded AIM, eBay, Tap Tap Revenge (which if you had the jailbroken version this one knocks it out the park!) & purchased Sega Super Monkey Ball. Fawkin' awesome game! Takes some getting used to but once you get the hang of it, it's a lot of fun. I'll do an app review some other time. I have noticed my signal strength drop 1 bar compared to my last model. It hasn't affected any calls & I haven't dropped any calls but I did pay attention to it. 3G works awesome & MUCH faster then EDGE. Of course that's obvious but since I'm so used to using safari when I'm strictly in Wi-Fi I loved being able to surf the web a lot faster w/out having to rely on it. The volume sounds much more crisp & clear although I personally never had a problem w/ the last one. The speaker for voice is 'ok'. Not as loud as I'm sure people would want it to be but who still uses speaker phone these days? Google maps GPS works awesome. Better than I anticipated. It's not voice assisted turn by turn (yet) but it worked out great for me. The new calculator is cool but I have no use for the scientific side. Contacts are now easier to go through. Passwords are now easier to type since they are visible as you type but clears as you continue. Little things I'm noticing improving but since I've had it only since last night I haven't really tried to much. All in all I believe Apple did a great job on improvements. Obviously we're still waiting on MMS support, Voice dialing (which I see happening soon since voice notes is available) & video recording (which I also se happening) Is there room for improvement? Of course however their on the right track. I'm very pleased with my purchase. Now once the iPhone Dev team releases the jailbreak hack for 2.0 I can use Customize & Summerboar again ![]()

So far the iPhone 3G is crystal clear. It's a noticeable difference although I didn't have a problem w/ the last one. You'll be happy with it. There are tons of people that will hate the product. Try it for yourself & be your own judge.

The phone is purchased & activated inside the store. Both at AT&T and Apple. Apple stores can't support customers with IRU/CRU (company) discounts & they are having a hell of a time with the activation process. Not their fault since they're not used to this. They had an 1hr meeting on how to activate while we receive 2 weeks training when 1st hired.
