iPhone's MobileMe Push Mail Hands-On Shows Why BlackBerry Is Dead (NOT MY TITLE)

http://gizmodo.com/5023904/iphones-m...kberry-is-dead

VIDEO ON SITE

Quote:
As you can see in the video, MobileMe push mail is now active, fully operative, and perfectly armed. My iPhone is now getting all email in real time, both over a Wi-Fi connection and using a cellphone network. I even use EDGE—not 3G—and a non-official carrier on roaming. So far, not a single problem. Bad news RIM: BlackBerry is dead, dead, dead. Dead.

Until now, the only thing that separated the BlackBerry from the iPhone—apart from the iPhone's better, faster, and more powerful operating system—was the push email in the BlackBerry. I was a CrackBerry addict myself before getting the iPhone, and the only thing I missed (sometimes not really, because it can get very annoying) was the push email.

With iPhone OS 2.0 and MobileMe (or the enterprise connectivity options) that difference is completely gone.

The push mail works flawlessly. Even over international connections: to do the cellphone network test I used a Vodafone Spain SIM card running on the Vodafone UK network here in London. Not a single glitch, the thing just worked almost instantly. Knowing that Apple is using Sun Java Messaging Servers, probably paired with Synchronica or Consilient's over-the-air synchronization modules, I'm not surprised. It feels like they have put together a rock-solid operation.

If you couple that with the fact that both consumers and enterprise iPhone users are going to be able to push sync everything, including calendars, address book, and web bookmarks, you can see why Research In Motion is going to have a very tough time defending against the Apple juggernaut. The combination of multimedia, consumer, and enterprise features in the iPhone, combined with the flawless Application Store and its user interface, makes anything BlackBerry has look like a useless brick.

Why that article is full of crap:

1.) There are many models of Blackberries, from the low end to the high end. All iPhones are the same with exception of memory.

2.) You can only buy the iPhone at the Apple store or AT&T store, you can get blackberries almost anyplace.

3.) You are stuck with one network for the iPhone (unless you buy an unlocked one, or get one unlocked by a 3rd party).

4.) No business deals on the iPhone, plenty of them on the blackberry.

A full touch screen device will never replace a tactile and/or touch + tactile device...

Which means the iPhone won't be killing off the BLackberry any time soon.

Gods, I just want a regular old cellphone. All this shit is driving me nuts. I mean my email from work is bad enough. I don't need a camera, I don't need to browse the internet or anything like that. I just want a phone with buttons to make calls.

Life was a lot easier without all that shit.

u sure about that buddy?

I thought the same thing a long time ago when i used to go to dunkin deez nuts to get me a coffee, they used to have a giant ass keyboard punching shit in, now its all touch screen (same goes for most fast food places now)

many thought a fully automated system wouldn't replace supermarket employee either, now out of 12 aisles in the supermarket at least 4 are fully automated touch screen.

atms are moving from all buttons to touch, same with PDAs, notebook pcs having touchpads and dont forget that 95% of all car GPSs are touch screen.

like it or not. its coming.

^^^ we already know he doesn't like it.

i don't MIND them, but my touch's keyboard feels a little sluggish, but its not too bad since i can't type nearly as fast on any tiny qwerty board anyway
