auto car starter

i want to put a auto starter in my wifes car. the problem is its more than a 100 bucks now than when i had it put in my truck.

it was 315 for my chevy with no keyless entry and for her car its gonna be 475 with the keyless. my question is does anyone know how hard it will be to do myself. i can buy the same viper system i have in my truck for a little less than 100. i tried to help a friend of mine years ago putting one in his 85 k-5 and it was a cluster fuck of wires. i dont know if theyve gotten any easier like a plug in type deal. i also cant have her car down for days while i sort through a thousand wires.

i have pretty extensive automotive knowledge, but this kind of thing always makes me nervous. any help would be greatly appreciated.

um, I always thought it was kinda easy? What kind of car is it? For some, if you have an auto start you end up disabling any form of chipped ignition key security.

it really isn't that much more difficult than a multi-sensor car alarm. if you can follow a wiring diagram, know how to solder/crimp, and can diagnose with a multimeter (if need be), then it really shouldn't be difficult. imo, the most difficult part is dash disassembly and contorting your body underneath the dash to find the wiring

yeah thats gonna be a problem. im 6'5" and im putting it in a crv. gonna be tight. but all in all, i do tons of wiring a schematic reading at work so that wont be a problem. everytime i look at the bundle of wires in the package, i cringe.

if you have CRV-specific wiring harnesses and/or adapters, it'll be a cakewalk. just have spare fuses ready and/or disconnect the battery. i'd plan on it taking up the better part of the afternoon, though.

Dude....just take it to the shop and have them do it. Because from the sound of it, you have a very strong chance of fucking something up. You'll thank yourself later.

Find a different shop. I paid $100 to have my Viper system installed in my old car.
