My Best Man Speech
On Saturday my best friend will be getting married and I'll be making a best man speech. This'll be my first one and I'm a little nervous. I wrote it out and have been practicing but i wanna see what you guys think. I didn't wanna roast too heavy or make it too long. I'm going for short and sweet with a few jokes mixed in...
"Excuse me everyone, if i could have your attention please. i'd like to take a couple minutes to say a few things about the bride and groom. First off, i'd like to thank the people who made this day possible - Megs parents, Joe and Franny, Rich's parent's, Rich and Maryann and of course the bride and groom, rich and meg. I feel very lucky to be a part of this incredibly special day...because anytime you have free alcohol and free food it is indeed an incredibly special day.
In case you can't tell i've never given a bestman speech before so i did a lot of research and asked around to a lot of people leading up to this. i learned that its my responsibility to sing the groom's praises and talk about what a good guy rich is - well, i can't sing and i'm a bad liar so instead i decided i was gonna tell some of my favorite sories that best exemplifies who rich really is... and then i decided that probably wasn't the best idea either. so i gave it some more thought and came up with one memory that was ok to talk about and that was the first night i met meg. right from the start i could see you too were gonna be perfect for each other. and then as i saw you two together more and more i could see why. you two balance each other out and brings qualities to the relationship that the other person may not have necessarily had. fo example, meg is smart, she's really funny and she's good looking... so you can se how there's a balance there.
In all seriousness, you're both amazing people who i feel fortunate to call such good friends and i think you're both very lucky to have each other. i think this is the part of the speech where i'm supposed to wish you guys good luck but i don't think you're gonna need it, so instead, i'm just going to say, congratulations. *raise glass* to the bride and groom. cheers!
what do u guys think? any suggestions? keep in mind, not trying to make it long and i'm not trying to take any shots at the groom that are too crazy.
